VHRU Training

The Volunteer Homeland Reserve Unit (VHRU) will undergo training in various areas of the operations of the participating four member police departments.

The VHRU members will interact with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Henderson, Boulder City and North Las Vegas Police Departments to better understand their policy and procedures. Additionally, the training program will include:

• Basic First Aid
• CPR
• First Responders Orientation

The VHRU has been approached by the State of Nevada Emergency Management Office to consider bringing the group under the state supervision. One of the requirements to volunteer for the state on homeland security is attending and becoming certified in Incident Command System training (ICS). Training has been arranged through Clark County Emergency Management for the core leadership members (18) during July and August of 2004. Once the core leadership is certified, they can become trainers and instruct the members of the VHRU on ICS training.
